Why The Bronx?
The Bronx is a jurisdiction like no other in the world.
It's known far and wide as the home of Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Garden. Although a county of dubious wealth, its impact on these essential societal underpinnings is unmistakable. Moreover, the Bronx is by far the most easily accessible borough in NYC, by subway, railroad and roadway, to the adjoining boroughs as well as Upstate New York and Long Island.
The Bronx is also home to the legendary Bronx Supreme Court, which hears personal injury, medical malpractice and civil police brutality cases. The courtrooms on Grand Concourse are a cultural icon, depicted in most of our TV and movie courtrooms. That court, and the unique jurisprudence there, is part of the very fabric of the Bronx itself.
Simply stated, the Bronx is the best venue in the world for plaintiffs. It has maintained that reputation for the last 25 years. As the other boroughs and surrounding counties become more conservative and civil defendant oriented, the Bronx is an even more favorable plaintiffs' venue by comparison. The only other borough that can compare is Brooklyn - and even that is quickly changing with Brooklyn's new elite resident status.
We know the courts here, and the insurance companies struggle to face us
Insurance companies have developed winning strategies in all of the other boroughs of New York, but not in the Bronx. The demographics of judges and jury pools mitigate the establishment values and status quo attitudes that work in the insurance companies' favor.
The Bronx has long been the vanguard of jurisprudence in the United States. It stands alone with Louisiana and California in that regard. Three things define courts and juries in the Bronx:
- Liberal jurisprudence
- Listening to all arguments
- Fair-minded thinking
In short, the Bronx is, and always has been, a beacon for the underdog
This is why we practice law in the Bronx. Our experience representing clients in all five boroughs and surrounding counties helps hone our practice for a truly unique Bronx venue. We stand up against all of the following forms of negligence and many more:
- Construction accidents, many of which result from companies taking shortcuts and exploiting immigrant workers;
- Medical malpractice at places such as Lincoln Hospital and Jacobi Hospital, where we help victims of antiquated medical techniques and substandard care, and;
- Lead paint poisoning when landlords put families at risk in old, lead-infested apartments.
The uniqueness of the Bronx works in the plaintiff's favor* in terms of verdicts and settlements. We're not just talking about large dollar amounts. We're talking about meaningful verdicts and settlements compared to other venues for comparable injuries. Insurance companies offer more favorable settlements because they don't want to risk a verdict in the Bronx. Put simply, injuries are worth more in the Bronx.
The Bronx is a place where we can stand up for the underdog and fight for full, fair compensation for people who have been wronged. That's what drives us to fight hard every day. That's why we do what we do, and why we do it here.
*As is true for all venues, the Bronx is not a guaranteed win for the plaintiff. Though Giampa Law has had overwhelming success in Bronx County, remember that prior results do not and cannot guarantee future success.
